Dot
and Dave (gif animations) are frequent visitors to Cyprus
and would always recommend a villa rental holiday in one
of the villages. One one of our trips we stayed in a stone
built villa complete with swimming pool in Polemi a small
village just off the Paphos Polis road. We rented this
villa through www.bettabilt.com who are based in Paphos
Town. They were very good and looked after us well, even
taking us on a tour of all Villas available.
Although Bettabilt arranged the
villa rental it was owned by Andreas and Elani who owned
the Sa Burneri taverna that overlooked the Evretou Dam
close to Simou and Lasa a few miles up the road from Polemi.
The photograph opposite is the sort of view you get sitting
in the taverna and the food is highly recommended.
We thoroughly enjoyed the stay
in Polemi, the Villa was brand new and well furnished
and the villagers were very friendly. It was difficult
to walk to the local shop without stopping and having
a chat every few steps.
With Paphos, Coral Bay, Polis,
Latchi , Stavros, Cedar Valley, Troodos and all the small
villages to explore a car (we recommend a four wheel drive)
is essential so if you want to escape the hustle and bustle
of the tourist areas and appreciated some Greek cuisine
at its best we recommend a Cypriot village villa holiday
every time. Being able to speak Greek not essential but
knowing a few words can always be an ice breaker with
the locals |
