I have been visiting Cyprus for many years ( When I feel like a break from making animated gifs ) but on one stay in Lysos (2008) a very friendly and remote village that I have come to love I was advised of a Taverna in Kathikas called Imogens. I just had to visit, had a little trouble finding it but it was well worth it as I had some of the best Greek food we had ever tasted.
Its menu includes tradition Greek Cypriot and Mainland Greek food. The Meze is out of this world and you can have the vegetarian option if you so desire. During the weekends it can get very busy in the summer and it may be advisable to book a table. The restaurant itself is decorated in a very Greek style and many tables are out in the courtyard, fine in the summer but because it is up in the hills it can get a little chilly out of season. The village itself is a very traditional Greek place with narrow streets and a big church in the centre courtyard, a little walk around after a very satisfying meal is recommended.
This taverna/restaurant is in Kathikas village on the main route from Paphos to Polis and is up in the hills, a very pleasant place to visit in the hot days of Summer as it is always cooler. The restaurant is directly opposite the church. It is not easy to find but just look for the blue Co-op sign and it is an alley next to it. The Flash animation above will give you a clue as to what it looks like. George, Helen and family will look after you with the best Greek hospitality and food freshly cooked that day.
I intend to eat at this restaurant again and if you visit this fantastic taverna mention Dot and Dave although with all the trade they get it is unlikely that they will remember this eccentric English couple.
