A fantastic restaurant with free sun beds in Calis Turkey

1881 LogoWe had two wonderful weeks in Calis and we stayed in the Diana residence. This was at the far end of Calis beach, a nice quite spot but only a short walk away from the main tourist strip where all the restaurant and bar owners try and drag you into their establishments as you walk by.

Each morning I would have a walk with Dot and one morning we took a short walk as indicated by the red dotted line on the map and we found the 1881 restaurant, complete with sun beds and hammocks. We returned to the Diana Residence and told my sister and brother in law who were also with us about our find and decided to pay them a visit. It was a good decision, we ordered drinks and were pleased to see that a very generous amount of alcohol was added to them and spent a leisurely couple of hours just lazing in the sunshine with attentive attention from the staff.

Slide showAfter a while we were getting hungry so ordered food. You can watch it being prepared if you like and the good hygiene and use of fresh food was obvious. No frozen chips, they supplied the real thing , the salads were great and the moussaka I had was one of the best I have ever tasted, totally different from the Greek version.

Sadly we only found this place towards the end of our holiday but we did return again and were not disappointed

Murat the owner, a totally laid back and chilled out person was always very helpful and very friendly and it was obvious that the staff he had were like part of the family to him.

If you are going to stay in Calis, Fethiye and want to visit this restaurant the taxis are very inexpensive, we used Huseyin who speaks English and can be contacted on 0546 4230775 or you can use the Dolmus bus (even cheaper) that runs every 5 minutes to get as far as the junction with the Diana Residence and then walk the rest of the way.

Should you use this restaurant let Murat, a Billy Connolly look-alike that Dot and Dave recommended you should visit.
